Merry Christmas

Holiday Greetings to all of our Packsack Friends and Family!

We hope this letter finds you all in good health, and spending time with your family and friends! We have had another very busy year here at Packsack, and we are so grateful for you all who shared it with us!

After a year of record-breaking flooding and water levels in 2022, The BWCAW had a bit more of a “normal” year weather wise in 2023.  Fishing was spectacular as usual, we had several customers reel in their personal best of walleye, bass and pike, and the crappie biting off the docks this spring were the size of footballs! Packsack saw a record (for us) number of canoers and campers in 2023. From scout groups, to families, to groups of friends, we appreciate all of you for allowing us to help make your Wilderness experience a memorable one!

Since we closed up in October, we have been busy, busy! The week after closing, we took out Daughter Adilee on her first camping trip. We chose to forgo the temperamental October BWCAW weather, and headed South. We spent a couple of nights tent camping at the Lake of the Ozarks State Forest Campground in Missouri, and a couple nights camping in the Land Between the Lakes in Kentucky. We spent time wildlife viewing, fishing for bluegills, and relaxing around the campfire with of course… S’MORES! We had a great time enjoying some beautiful weather and spending time within a few of our nations other National Parks. Since we got back from our vacation, we have been moving! Yes, that’s right, we have moved from our house in Ely, to the house on the Packsack property. In September, Gene and Jane closed on a beautiful little house on the other side of Ely, and moved out mid-October. We wish Gene and Jane the best of luck in their new home, and we hope to still see plenty of them both at Packsack for years to come! We are excited to be on the Packsack property fulltime, this will give us a chance to enjoy our beautiful view more, and enjoy our customers on a more personal basis.

As we say good bye to 2023, we are excited for what’s to come in 2024! I know a lot of you have already started planning for these coming summers canoe trips and cabin stays, we want to remind you all, we are happy to help with any planning, just give us a call or send an email. The date to begin reserving permits for the 2024 season will be on Wednesday January 31st, at 9:00 am CST sharp. Permits will again be sold on a first come, first serve basis on the Forest Service website, recreation.org.
