Fall Lake Fishing Report for August 2nd

August 2, 2017

The mid-summer heat and a taste for blueberries has slowed area fishing down for some, while Packsack guests that have been coming here for years have had no problem finding limits of bass and walleye. Walleyes have been found around deeper structure, using crawler harnesses and trolling with crank baits. Those using slip bobbers and leaches have had success for walleye during the evening hours from shore, and around weed beds.

Smallmouth bass are hitting hard on Fall Lake. Several bass in the 20-inch range are still being caught and released on the North-East end of the lake. Leaches and crankbaits are still doing the trick for the large smallies!

This past several weeks, Gene and Jane have had the opportunity to spend time with their children and grandchildren. Jane has been able to get away for a “girls weekend” to Fargo with her granddaughters, and Gene has had the opportunity for the first time in 17 years go fishing with 10 of his 11 grandchildren. Gene on a couple of different trips, did the three portages into Back Bay of Basswood Lake for some bluegill fishing. Gene and his crew caught hundreds of fish, from bluegills, and crappies, to northern, and walleye. The memories made on these fishing trips will be with these kids forever, and has given Gene the ability to share what he loves with those that he loves the most. For us at Packsack, great memories like these are what we strive to produce for all of our guests, we are glad that Gene and Jane are finally on the receiving side
