CANOES
We offer a variety of canoes. We use Grumman lightweight aluminum canoes and Wenonah Kevlar canoes for those wishing to travel ultra lightweight. All canoe rentals include paddles, life preservers and carrying yoke.
Small outboard motors can be used on some canoe trips. We have available square stern canoes, side brackets that permit motors to be mounted on regular canoes and motors for those who do not have their own.
The use of outboard motors in the canoe country has been very much limited.
Currently all of Quetico Park is closed to motors. Outboard motors may be used on the American side on a few routes in the BWCA.
No motors larger than 25 h.p. may be used anywhere in the motorized canoe area.
If you are thinking about using an outboard motor on a canoe trip we suggest you contact us for further details. Motor permits are very limited.
We advise you make reservations early.
Portage wheels (sets of small wheels that fit under the canoe) are available and can be used on some routes.
